Badger Pass Ski Area

This camera looks over the Yosemite Ski & Snowboard Area at Badger Pass, the small, historic ski hill inside Yosemite National Park at about 7,200 feet on the Glacier Point Road. Opened in 1935, it's one of the oldest operating ski areas in California and a gentle, family-friendly throwback — a handful of lifts and wide, mellow runs surrounded by the snowy high country rather than a sprawling modern resort. The ski area runs in winter when snowpack allows, typically from mid-December into March, and the camera shows the day's conditions — fresh powder, groomed corduroy, or the spring slush of late season. Beyond downhill skiing, Badger Pass is the gateway to Yosemite's winter backcountry: cross-country and snowshoe trails run from here toward Glacier Point, which is closed to cars in winter. Yosemite is on Pacific Time, three hours behind Hawaii. In summer the snow gives way to the Glacier Point Road and trailheads into Yosemite's spectacular high country — the Clark Range, Ostrander Lake, and the overlooks above the valley. Badger Pass sits in a quieter part of the park, away from the valley crowds, with classic Sierra Nevada forest and granite all around.
