About these cameras
Kauai has far fewer public webcams than Oahu or Maui — much of the island's most famous scenery, like the Na Pali Coast and Waimea Canyon, has no live camera coverage at all. The feeds that do exist cluster around the resort coasts: Hanalei Colony Resort on the north shore, and two south-shore cameras at Poipu — the Royal Sonesta on Poipu Beach and the Lawai Beach Resort cam overlooking one of the island's best-known snorkeling coves.
Between them you get both of Kauai's weather worlds: the lush, wetter north shore around Hanalei Bay, where winter brings serious surf, and the sunnier, drier south shore at Poipu, which stays swimmable most of the year. If you're comparing conditions before a trip, checking the north- and south-shore cameras side by side tells you more than any forecast — the two coasts routinely look like different seasons on the same day.
