About these cameras
Maui's camera coverage runs from sea level to the summit: beach and resort cams at Wailea, Kaʻanapali (Sheraton Maui), and the Maui Sea Shell cam on the coast, plus the Haleakalā National Park summit crater camera at over 9,700 feet — often above the clouds, and one of the few ways to check summit conditions before committing to the sunrise drive.
Two feeds are unusual for a destination this size. The Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale Marine Sanctuary camera watches the ʻAuʻau Channel, where humpbacks gather every winter (roughly December through April) — during the season it's genuinely possible to spot breaches on the live feed. And a set of FAA aviation weather cameras (Kekoa, Kaheawa, Puunianiau, Makena Rd) shows real-time conditions at points around the island that tourist cams never cover.
