The Hale Hana Surf cam captures live ocean conditions along the sun-drenched coast of Kihei on Maui's south shore. South Maui's surf breaks are gentler than the North Shore powerhouses, making them perfect for longboarders, groms learning the basics, and anyone who wants to enjoy the ocean without battling heavy currents. When south swells arrive — typically between May and October — the breaks along Kihei wake up and deliver fun, rideable waves in the waist-to-head-high range. Winter months bring calmer conditions with occasional wrap-around swells. From this camera, you can watch the daily ocean rhythm unfold: morning glass-off conditions where the water is mirror-smooth, midday trade winds creating a slight chop, and the spectacular Maui sunsets that light up the sky behind the West Maui Mountains.
