About Yellowstone's live webcams

Yellowstone National Park sits atop one of Earth's largest active volcanic hotspots, powering more than 10,000 geothermal features — half the world's geysers. The park covers 2.2 million acres across Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho and hosts the largest free-roaming bison herd in North America.

The NPS operates webcams across the park capturing the entrance arches, mountain panoramas, and thermal areas. Wildlife is frequently visible in the camera frames — bison herds crossing the road near Mammoth and elk in the meadows are common sightings year-round.

Old Faithful eruption schedule

Old Faithful erupts roughly every 90 minutes, with predictions posted at the visitor center. The NPS Old Faithful cam (nps.gov/yell/learn/photosmultimedia/webcams.htm) shows the cone — check it for real-time eruption views. Our cams cover the broader park.

Best wildlife viewing times

Dawn and dusk (the "golden hours" for wildlife) are when bison, elk, and wolves are most active near the road corridors. The Lamar Valley — accessible from the Northeast Entrance — is the prime wolf-watching spot in the lower 48.
