About This Camera
This 360° camera looks over Buttermilk, the gentlest of the four Aspen Snowmass mountains in Colorado — and, famously, the home of the Winter X Games, whose superpipe and slopestyle courses are built here each January. Buttermilk is the beginner-and-progression mountain by day and a world stage for freestyle competition in winter, all set against the Elk Mountains. The panorama shows conditions across its mellow, sunny slopes.
Season runs roughly mid-December through early April, with Aspen's light, dry high-altitude snow. Buttermilk's gentle pitch makes it the learning hill of a world-class resort, while the X Games each January turn it into a global broadcast venue. Colorado is on Mountain Time, three hours behind Hawaii.
One of Aspen Snowmass's four mountains, Buttermilk rounds out a destination that ranges from first-timer terrain to expert bowls. In summer the area opens to hikers and bikers in the Roaring Fork Valley.
